Cisco ASR ROMMON (Ctrl+Break) Shortcut

I had to perform a password recovery on a Cisco ASR router and my HP laptop doesn't have a Break key which is commonly used enter the router ROMMON mode. This Cisco link lists some of the standard break key using different terminal emulator (puTTY, SecureCRT, etc) and PC OS (Windows, Mac, etc).

An alternative and easy way to enter ROMMON mode in a Cisco ASR router is simply do a Ctrl+C or Ctrl+Shift+6 combo.

rommon 1 > confreg 0x2142

 

You must reset or power cycle for new config to take effect

rommon 2 > sync

rommon 3 > reset
